La Despedida
It’s amazing, really, how much one can learn in a little under 5 months. It’s strange how someone else’s house can become your home and how after only 4 months or so you feel like you belong in the country. No puedo creer que mañana no vaya a dormir en la cama un poquito pequeña, cubierta de sabanas estampadas de flores y una manta tan coloreado. La misma cama en que dormí por 4 y pico meses. No...

Better
I was on this thing called Pinterest today and I don’t know how to describe it. But it’s like a image blog or a giant corkboard that you pin pictures of things that you like to it. But I came across some rattling images. There were before and after torso pictures of women who lost weight; there was a particular picture that kept coming up with some thin muscular, big-breasted sports...

Whoever you are I hope we meet on a busy street I hope we meet in the middle of the road And pause there for a moment And nod to the mutual sound of humanness And Whoever you may become I hope that I meet that person On the same street In the middle of the road And once again pause for a while But dance this time

The dogs speak Spanish here
There is nothing much to report here except that I am doing the same things I have been: speaking Spanish, dancing to Spanish music, learning about Spain in Spanish, and making and keeping friends while talking Spanish. Mostly I just love it. It’s really starting to pick up pace and move along quickly. Happy one month anniversary Spain 2 days ago!

Details
I just realized that I have been studying a little differently lately and I just identified what I have been doing: I have been intentionally paying attention to details. Interesting. They really do come in handy.

A Season
We can’t define seasons in our lives until they are over. The hard stuff and the good stuff combine at the closing of a part to give us something we don’t expect and can’t know until we watch it all come together. God gives us experiences for a reason. We sometimes just have to wait a bit to know what that reason is.

Seasons
“Don’t get stuck. Move, travel, take a class, take a risk. Walk away, try something new. There is a season for wildness and a season for settledness, and this is neither.” Shauna Niequist, Bittersweet I think that there is also a season for sadness and a season for happiness. And this season I am in is about embracing the people around me and being happy about it. I tire of...

Dear Jesus,
Thanks for the best little brother I could ever ask for. I know that some days it’s pretty difficult to see it, but he really is. Today it was pretty easy to see how great he is. Thanks for the blessing of such an awesome little…nope very tall and lanky brother man.

Well, hello there, 2 AM. The best of friends we...
I am up really late again. I just gotta embrace it.   I was talking to my mom today about life when we were running. And this shouldn’t be weird to me, but I forget how much more wise and experienced my parents are in comparison to me, but then I can still relate to them. And what a blessing.   But we were talking about living life unapologetically.   Well, she was talking about living...

Sleep? Who sleeps?
So waitress-ing today was very interesting. Had a couple of disgruntled customers and they never cease to amaze me. I forgot what it was like to feel like someone was serving me, seeing as I haven’t been out to eat at a restaurant since Applebee’s a couple months ago and really, I can remember that far back….kinda.   But it’s astounding to me that so much anger can build...

Isaiah 40:31

Still Fonder
I read somewhere once that “Absence makes the heart grow fonder.” ….but my Dad really enjoys saying “absence makes the heart a’wander.” And for those of you who don’t know, I hate cliches.  Oh wait, is that cliche?  I like to question and reject things like sayings like “Absence makes the heart grow fonder.”  Why would being away from something...
